Return of a Favorite: Dan Smith’s Garage Transformation in Cave Creek
When Dan bought his new home in Cave Creek, he didn’t waste time wondering who to call for his garage storage—he already knew. Years ago, we helped him organize his previous garage in Chandler, and when it came time to upgrade the new one, he came straight to Garage Solutions AZ.
And we were honored to be back.
🧼 Respecting the Space, Start to Finish
From the first photo to the final install, this project showcases not just the transformation—but the process. We pride ourselves on keeping our work area spotless, respecting our clients’ homes and belongings as if they were our own. Actually, scratch that—we treat them better than our own, because they’re not ours. We know how much care our clients put into their homes, and we match that care every step of the way.
🎨 A Floor That Pops—Thanks to a Last-Minute Call
We kicked things off with a full polyaspartic floor coating, using full chips for maximum durability. Dan originally chose a classic black, white, and grey mix—but literally the day before install, he called with a twist: his wife had pulled rank and wanted a splash of blue to make it pop.
They didn’t want anything too loud or risky for resale, just something that stood out from the crowd. We pivoted to “Orbit” by Torginol, and the result? Absolutely stunning. Sleek, modern, and just different enough to turn heads.
🧱 Monkey Bars, Cabinets, and Slatwall—The Full Package
Next, we installed Monkey Bars on every available wall, giving Dan the ability to store heavy items off the floor while keeping them accessible. No need for a downtown storage unit—everything he owns now lives neatly in his garage, and his cars are protected from the brutal Arizona sun.
We followed that up with custom cabinets finished in “River Rock”, paired with sleek silver door pulls and legs for a clean, modern look. A workbench and slatwall backsplash rounded out the setup, giving Dan a functional workspace and easy access to tools and gear. It was a complete transformation. Or so we thought…
🚗 A Truck-Sized Challenge—and a Creative Fix
A few weeks later, while working on a neighbor’s garage (who had seen Dan’s setup and wanted one of his own), Dan stopped by with a new problem: he’d bought a new truck, and it was just a bit too wide and long to fit in the garage with the cabinets in place.
We took a look and realized we only needed about 10 inches of extra clearance. So we proposed a simple but effective solution:
- Remove the last 48″ cabinet that was in the way
- Reinstall it on the back wall next to the water softener
- Replace it with a 24″ half cabinet to maintain the finished look and gain two feet of clearance
Two weeks later, we were back at Dan’s house. We made the swap, and not only did the truck fit perfectly—Dan actually gained extra cabinet space in the process.
🎉 The Verdict: You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It Too
Dan’s garage now checks every box: stylish, functional, spacious, and tailored to his lifestyle. From the Orbit floor to the reconfigured cabinets, it’s a space that works hard and looks good doing it.
