Casa Grande, Arizona, is a city in Pinal County that sits about halfway between Phoenix and Tucson. It was named after the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, which is located in the nearby town of Coolidge. Case Grande is Spanish for “big house.” This city is currently home to a little over 70,000 people. 

If you’re passionate about history, consider visiting the Museum of Casa Grande. You can view over 50,000 historical artifacts, archives, an extensive photograph collection, and several historic properties, which include the 19th/20th Century Weaver Pioneer Cemetery, the historic 1927 First Presbyterian Church building, and the 1930s-era segregated Southside Colored Schoolhouse. There is also a gift shop, where you can purchase books, journals, jewelry, art, stationery, and more.

Casa Grande is not the home of the Casa Grande Ruins, but it’s only a 23-mile drive away in Coolidge. Here you can tour the ruins following wayside signs, picnic with family and friends, and explore the visitor center, monument bookstore, and museum exhibits. While you can’t enter the Great House anymore, you can go on a guided tour to learn more about the mysterious structure.
