A Seamless Makeover for Gilbert Garage
Julie and Mack are loyal, returning customers, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to help them transform their new garage in Gilbert. Having loved the work, we did at their last home, they called us as soon as they bought their new house, ensuring we could complete the project before they even moved in. This garage underwent a complete transformation, thanks to our storage expertise and Julie’s stunning DIY painting job that truly brought the walls to life!
The space presented some challenges, as the garage was on the smaller side, and the Larsons wanted to park two cars inside to protect them from the Arizona sun. After an in-person consultation with Ryan—the owner, estimator, and installer—we custom-tailored a design to fit their storage needs, budget, and the unique layout of their garage.
We began by installing inverted Monkey Bar shelving along the left and back walls. This type of shelving creates a clean under-space, allowing vehicles and people to move freely while utilizing the upper area for heavy-duty storage. The shelving seamlessly wrapped the corner, forming an “L” shape for uninterrupted storage and a polished look. Beneath the inverted shelving on the back wall, we added a section of slat wall. Capable of holding up to 200 pounds per square foot and available in a variety of colors, our slat wall offers a low-profile, versatile storage solution that can be easily customized over time.
On the other half of the back wall, we installed an 8-foot section of regular Monkey Bars Shelving and added a hanging set of adjustable shelves for smaller items. On the right wall, we mounted a 4-foot section of inverted shelving, paired with two swiveling bike racks. These innovative bike racks eliminate heavy lifting—simply roll the bike onto the rack after standing it on its back wheel, and it securely drops into the support arm. The bikes can then be swiveled to the left or right to free up more floor space. These racks are perfect for all types of bicycles, including e-bikes and fat-tire bikes.
The pièce de résistance of the project was a Bluetooth-controlled, motorized overhead ceiling rack. Measuring 4 feet by 8 feet and capable of holding up to 400 pounds, this smart storage system can be controlled via a smartphone app. With safety features and convenient presets, it’s a cutting-edge addition that makes raising and lowering the rack effortless.
The durable gray powder coating on the Monkey Bars products paired beautifully with Julie’s choice of wall paint, giving the garage a polished and cohesive aesthetic that felt entirely intentional. Before leaving, the Larsons shared their plans to invite us back soon to apply an epoxy/polyaspartic full-flake cement floor coating to further protect and enhance their garage. We will be sure to post the photos of that last transformation step once it is complete.
We’re incredibly grateful to Julie and Mack for trusting us once again to bring their garage storage dreams to life. It’s always a joy working with such wonderful customers, and we’re proud to have been part of this amazing transformation!
